Chamois & other animals
It doesn’t take long to see them, even while travelling in the cable car: they’re chamois, the true lords of the land, even giving their name to the village of Chamois. They graze undisturbed, close to the cable car pylons, among the rocks, at the edge of the forest or in the shade of the trees. In the early morning or at dusk dozens of them herd together, often with their young in tow, and it is not rare to find them so close to the houses they can be clearly observed with the naked eye. Apart from chamois, also populating the woods and mountains are roe deer, foxes, marmots and ibex, while in the sky can be seen the bearded vulture, black grouse and, with a bit of luck, also the golden eagle.
