HOW TO GET HERE

 

Chamois is not accessible by car, but only with the cable car that starts from Buisson, a fraction of Antey St.André (Aosta).
Set Antey St.André-Buisson on the navigator and / or geolocalizer.

CAR

A5 motorway (Turin/Torino-Aosta), exit at the Châtillon tollgate. Follow the directions for Breuil-Cervinia (SS 46 of Valtournenche). Continue along the SS46 for 12km, going through Antey St.André until reaching Buisson. At the signpost for Chamois-Funivia (cablecar), turn right and leave the car in park of the cable car. TRAIN

Torino-Chivasso-Aosta railway line, then take the bus.

From Milan, Turin and Aosta, there are daily services to Valtournenche. Stops at the Buisson-Chamois cable car.

From Buisson, along the ancient mule-track accessing Chamois (about 700m elevation gain/drop, 93 hairpin bends, walking time approx. 2h00′); from the village of Veuillen at La Magdeleine with an easy 1 hour walk along a flat road; from Cheneil with scenic views in about 1½ hours; from the village of Crétaz in Valtournenche along the hiking trail, walking time approx. 2h.

BY BICYCLE

Access from La Magdeleine: an easy ride also by mountain bike.

PRIVATE VEHICLES

Exit at the Châtillon tollgate (A5 motorway), following the directions for Valtournenche/Breuil-Cervinia. On reaching Antey-Saint-André, in the village of Buisson you can leave your car in the park of the cable car going to Chamois.

Chamois has an altiporto, built in 1967, the first altiporto in Italy. Open summer and winter, it is managed by the Associazione Altiporto di Chamois.

SMALL TOURING AIRCRAFT

The airport was the first in Italy to be built in 1967 and is the busiest mountain airfield in the Aosta Valley, both in summer and winter, thanks to its ideal location in terms of accessibility.

The airfield is managed by the Associazione Altiporto di Chamois. Before landing, please contact the manager Luca FINI +39 347 2610180.
